Dear Freind and Neighbor,
In the midst of the barbecuing and celebrating with friends and family today, let's each take a moment to acknowledge and give thanks for what this last Monday in May is all about. Over the years, countless American servicemen and women have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives to something bigger than themselves. Today, we honor them and thank them for giving their all on behalf of our country.
These men and women came from all across the country and beyond. They were citizens and immigrants; rich and poor; gay and straight; but they all believed that service to their fellow Americans came before all else. Their dedication is beyond reproach and their commitment, without question. We mourn their passing today and stand in memorial with their families, upon whom this burden lies heaviest.
This is why we take the time today to say, "thank you." Thank you to the families who have experienced loss; thank you to the men and women who continue to serve overseas and thank you to all those who are no longer with us, having dutifully traded their lives to protect us at home.
I wish you all a Happy Memorial Day.
Sincerely,
Ydanis Rodriguez
