Over the holiday weekend, my office learned of a despicable and abusive video posted online depicting a young woman bring verbally and psychologically abused by a man with a video camera as she was forced to walk down a Manhattan street naked.
As a father of two young daughters and having grown up in a house hold with seven sisters, I am disgusted and disturbed; not only that this video has gone viral, but that an incident like this occurred on the streets of Manhattan. This type of abuse is appalling and should not be tolerated in our great city. I call upon New Yorkers to immediately stop circulating this graphic video, one that glorifies the abuse and humiliation of a young woman. Please think before acting as you may serve to make the abuser more notorious and the victim more ashamed. I call on the authorities to investiage any criminal wrongdoing in connection to this incident immediately.
