Dear Neighbor,

Today I am proud to announce the reopening of the High Bridge! After 40 years, the newly renovated High Bridge will connect the Bronx with Washington Heights and give Northern Manhattan yet another park amenity. Downtown has the High line and today, uptown has the High Bridge.

With the second greenest area outside of Central Park, we already have great resources. However, with the High Bridge, we will be able to share those resources with residents of the Bronx. The High Bridge will share our beautiful resources with all communities in New York City and beyond. As Chair of the Transportation Committee, I am excited to announce that cyclists may gain access to our New York City Greenways. This increases our community’s space for recreational activities, and incentives our children to play outside and enjoy our great parks!

As Northern Manhattan continues to move into the future, I am proud to see the investment into our public spaces. As well, local businesses will assuredly see more revenues from an uptick in tourists, visiting the oldest bridge in New York City. With 57 million tourists visiting New York City each year, it is time for them to see the unique local businesses and beauty of Northern Manhattan.

Hoy estoy orgulloso de anunciar la reapertura del Puente High Bridge! Después de 40 años, el puente que fue recientemente renovado conectará el Bronx con Washington Heights y le dará a el Norte de Manhattan otro parque. El bajo Manhattan cuenta con el High Line y ahora el alto Manhattan contara con el High Bridge!

Con la zona segunda más verde fuera del parque Central, ya tenemos grandes recursos. Sin embargo, con el High Bridge, vamos a ser capaces de compartir estos recursos con los residentes del Bronx. El High Bridge compartirá nuestros hermosos recursos con todas las comunidades de la ciudad y más allá de Nueva York. Como Presidente de la Comisión de Transporte, estoy emocionado de anunciar que los ciclistas pueden tener acceso a Nueva York por nuestras Vías Verdes. Esto aumenta el espacio de nuestra comunidad para actividades recreativas, e incentiva a nuestros hijos a jugar al aire libre y disfrutar de nuestros grandes parques!

A media que el Norte de Manhattan continúa moviéndose hacia el futuro, estoy orgulloso de ver las inversiónes en nuestros espacios públicos. Además, las empresas locales seguramente veran más ingresos a partir de un aumento en los turistas, visitando el puente más antiguo de la ciudad de Nueva York. Con 57 millones de turistas que visitan la ciudad de Nueva York cada año, es el momento para que vean las empresas locales únicas y la belleza del norte de Manhattan.
