Based on the feedback and concerns of area residents I received regarding the liquor license for Brown Sugar Bar and Restaurant, I met with the business owner this morning. During that meeting I expressed that I would only support their liquor license if they agreed on terms that would take into account those communicated concerns and the history of that space’s impact on the surrounding area. After negotiations, the owner agreed to not host a DJ, and disallow background and light live music after 10:00pm. I am dedicated to both supporting small business and the entrepreneurs who invest in our communities while also ensuring that quality of life is maintained.
