We were appalled to hear of an employee refusing service to two officers, as we have proudly served first responders across our system for decades. As soon as we heard of this isolated incident, we began our own internal investigation overnight. The employee that refused service is no longer employed with Whataburger. We’ve also invited the officers back today so we can apologize in person and make this right.

Well done on making it right and letting that employee go. I know the whataburger in my town is always good to our local police officers so I was surprised to hear what happened at that location

Misguided people don't understand the importance of their role. Again, another example of the degeneraton of society. Thank goodness we have our Police Officers to protect us!

It's a shame this had to happen at one of yalls establishments.. Like ya'll said ya'll have been proud supports of first responders for so long and the help ya'll gave to flood victims in south Texas this year was amazing.. The problem is that though it was only one employee.. That employee represents your business.. I think with the way things have been in recent months that Whataburger is going to get a lot of bad rep for his actions. Hopefully people will understand that this is not the way the whole corporation feels and that it was only one individual.

My husband was a manager of the Granbury TX Blockbuster in the early 2000's. The idea of having the police as regular customers was encouraged. At least three times they came in very handy. I am glad to see Whataburger has released this individual for the sack of the potential safety of their customers. If the police are not welcome "Who are going to call?" if a crime ensues "Ghostbusters".

I have been in law enforcement going on 18 years and have never received bad service at a Whataburger. In fact many employees go out of there way to be cordial. I am sure this is an isolated incident and applaud Whataburger's quick reaction to remedy the actions by an ignorant fool.

I would like to thank Whataburger for its rapid response and taking immediate action to ensure that this does not occur again. As a veteran police officer, I appreciate the message that you are sending out with the termination of the employee, that this type of behavior will not be tolerated!

It's great whataburger is so passionate about serving police officers. Actually all first responders and military. That's amazing to me! But....I feel like every time someone refuses service to a first responder and they are fired then and there...I just don't know. I would rather try to talk to the employee and have them understand just what first responders do for us. Maybe they had a bad experience and just need to be reviewed educated on why we treat first responders the way we do. They protect and serve and make sure everyone is safe. I would rather teach the person who has ill feelings toward a officer and teach him to understand just how great police officers are. Now if it keeps happening and they don't make an effort to change their feelings toward the people who want to protect us, that's a different story. Yes it's not great someone would feel that way, but why not try to help them understand what first responders really do for us? Part of me just feels like termination on the spot when help and education is greatly needed in that situation is just anger towards someone's un educated decison.

I believe to this employee this was more personal ,not having anything to do with the job or the restaurant ... This is not right I worked at Whataburger for over eight years and while I worked there , their (police) presence was very welcomed reason being we felt protected .. I know as an ex-employee they were never refused any type of service.. To these Officers I'm sorry this employee treated you wrong you deserve great treatment for a job well done .. Great job Whataburger for appreciating the Police Department as you have always done .. To this employee I'm also sorry you lost your job ...

I am very thankful this employee is no longer with Whataburger, but perhaps your company should make it a WELL KNOWN policy stating anyone refusing service to law enforcement will be immediately terminated. Perhaps if they hear this enough, your employees will think twice before refusing service. Again, thank you for sticking up for our LEOs!!

As a retired Texas Peace Officer, my first reaction to the original post was "No Way!"...I know Whataburger and how they support Law Enforcement. I'm glad the issue has been resolved and the employee is no longer associated with Whataburger. I have spent many a night and many a lunch talking with Whataburger employees and they have all been top notch. Thank you Whataburger for taking the time to let us know where you stand. What is the other side of the story? Why would they have been refused service, the employee must have had a reason. Some cops can be arrogant and abuse the privilege. Just saying

I remember at a Whataburger location when some of its employees did something to our food! All of us were ill for 3 days straight! We filed a complaint with the Whataburger Corporation and they denied any fault! I have never thought the same of Whataburger since that day!!!! Raul Jr. Garcia

How disrespectful of that to the men who protect our community and our country, if I was the general manager of that store, I'd give them a meal on the house, burgers, fries, cokes, and vanilla shakes and Id tell them thank you for your service to our community and country

There you go! I know Harmon and Grace Dobson would not have stood for this nonsense, and Tom and the rest of the company officers are as kind as they come. Whataburger ranks right up there with Chick Fil a with regards to ethics and food quality.

I worked overnight at the Whataburger in Robstown Texas over 30 years ago. I remember the local police coming to check up on us all the time. We were told if they wanted to eat anything that it would be free for them. They would come over to say hi and make sure everything was ok. Most of the time the DID NOT eat. These guys were pretty cool to us.

When I worked for Whataburger in Corpus Christi some 30-odd years ago, we treated our police officer/fire fighter/etc. customers with extra care and respect (not that we didn't do this with our 'everyday' customers!). I never charged our police officer customers for their coffee while they were on-duty. They always appreciated this little gesture and our location always got a little extra attention paid to it by our officer buddies when it came to protecting us (they patrolled our lot more often to keep us safer)...

Thank you-when I worked for Whataburger the officers would come in and I would chat with em and some were transporting prisoners and asked if they could bring them in to use the restroom or get them a bite to eat and we gladly invited them in and thanked them for their service and told them to be safe out there.

So funny. That culture must not be at the Independence MO location.

A week ago at 10 pm I was in line 40 minutes till I was able to place my order. When I finally was not blocked in the drive through line, I left. There were still 4 cars till I would have been at the window.

Sent a message on messenger and still no response.

No desire to visit EVER again😡
