Daniel,I can say, well, we debated about this a year or two into recording, whether to make this one big album, two more modest albums (and if so, released at the same time, staggered, etc.). And as much 'cause we never got back to the conversation before finishing - and because a bunch of songs were cut, making the decision easier - it's just one, pretty long record.

But when you think about it, in this age of an album just being a list of songs on iTunes or Spotify or a download and a long album being just a longer list, what even qualifies as a double anymore? I guess if you're thinking like I/we do, yes, if this were released 30 years ago with vinyl as the primary medium, it would be a double. Nowadays it always seems to be 'new album, also available as double-vinyl'. But that's just my thinking.

haa...sure, eventually, this album first though. Sadly, our machine can only polish one crap at a time.

guys it's been 3 years now and I still haven't heard this record so I think you should look into hiring another mastering engineer (namely me, I will do you a good rate).

Ha...that's very sweet, Kevin, thanks! Although any issues have not been mastering-related, except in that post-mastering, it often reveals that any given song isn't gonna magically get better, you know? So yeah, I just commented somewhere else that this is the same 11th-hour revising that I did on the last one too, the last album, where there's a lotta cutting - cutting songs, cutting sections, cutting parts that especially suck, cutting cut corners..

I was being kinda facetious, I know there are lots of personal reasons the record isn't done yet (your obsessive recutting aside). And I certainly ascribe to the mantra that you can't master a bad record better (you can't polish a turd, only roll it in glitter right?) all that said, if this is the creative process that you went through with the Meadowlands (one of my all time favourite records), then that's one hell of a good omen that this one's going to blow my tiny little mind too. Hope all the Wrens are well!
