Email to Canfield Middle School parents
“This evening we have seen a number of posts and comments on social media about the Panhandle Health District mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic tomorrow outside of Canfield Middle School. We are dismayed to see that inaccurate and inflammatory information is being shared about this event. For the record:
1. This is not a school or school district-sponsored vaccination clinic. It is a Panhandle Health District clinic that is being offered outside of Canfield Middle School, as a courtesy to families who have requested access to vaccination.
2. This is a completely voluntary vaccination opportunity for families who chose to get the vaccine. No one is compelled to get the vaccine. Only students whose parents or guardians have opted for them to get the vaccine will participate.
3. The Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals ages 12 and older. Anyone under age 18 will not be allowed to receive the vaccine unless they have signed consent from a parent or guardian.
4. Members of the Idaho National Guard will be on hand to assist with clinic logistics, as they have been doing for months. Gov. Brad Little dispatched the Guard last November to assist in the state's vaccination effort. We ask that the public show respect to our Guardsmen as they perform their duties in assisting medical professionals.”

The Idaho National Guard is requiring parental consent for the shot.

Coeur d’Alene School District students are being offered COVID shots during class time. (To the middle school and high school students.)
Per Idaho Code Title 39 Chapter 38, minors 14 years and up can consent to some medical treatment without the consent of a parent/guardian.
Is the CDA School District requiring parental consent for all students? Why are they doing this during learning time?
Who is liable for adverse reactions? Why is the Idaho National guard involved in administering shots?
There will be concerned citizens and parents at Canfield Middle School tomorrow from 7-10 am to hand out educational material and to send a message to the school district that this is not an appropriate use of class time.
Consider emailing and calling the school board and superintendent of the CDA school district.

The reply, "Mom, it is one thing for a child like me, independent thinking, research savvy, & informed, able to understand what all should be looking into to, who is with full knowledge.
Most kids don't have that, and lack comprehension this is a trial product. I believe they would take it due to things like pure pressure, or popularity quests. That is not informed."
