As I scroll through the news this morning I am saddened to read the details of the horrible tragedy in Oregon. My heart goes out to the citizens of Roseburg -- especially the families and loved ones of those murdered.
The recent spike in mass shootings across the nation is truly troubling. Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.
While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.
" Every person who shall be chosen or appointed to any office of trust or profit under this Constitution, or any law made in pursuance thereof, shall, before entering on the duties thereof, take an oath to support the Constitution of this State, and of the United States, and an oath of office." - Tennessee Sec. of State
He must either resign or be removed from office for such an egregious violation of his oath of office.
Or maybe we should just accept that this is nothing more than a product of mental illness and easy access to firearms, instead of trying to spin a narrative. Just maybe.
Don't forget that the perpetrator's own sentiments were against "organized religion", not just Christianity. Of course the people he killed were Christians, because they make up 80% of our population. It's unlikely that there were even any Muslims or Hindus or other people associated with organized religions even in the classrooms. Or, if there were, they might have refused to answer or said "other" once they realized that "Christian" was a bad answer.
To claim that this was about killing Christians is to be willfully obtuse. That's as bad as saying that ISIS persecutes Christians, while failing to mention that they also kill atheists, Yazidis, Zoroastrians, and even non-radical Muslims.
Or maybe you just recognize that these minority groups would see your message for the crackpot persecution narrative that it is. You cherry-picked a couple of recent mass shootings to claim that heavily armed folks in America are gunning for Christians, and yet you claim this is not the time for ‘widespread panic.’ How ignorant and irresponsible. I long for the day when all Tennesseans will clamor for intelligent, responsible leaders, because you, Ron, are a disgrace.
