Not necessary to change laws that are already in place. He was a criminal who should not have fallen through the cracks. You will not take away the lawful American's guns.

Taking away guns from law abiding citizens is like leaving doors unlocked everywhere . Criminals , insane, and thugs love your idea to restrict us from being able to protect ourselves and other innocent people from them. It makes me wonder whose side you are on. How would you feel not being protected in DC or your office ? Myself , I believe in the right to KEEP & BEAR ( carry ) ARMS ( weapons ) without restrictions. The first time I ever held a gun , I knew the power of life and death. It gave me more respect for my rights. I understand you think that until this gets under control , laws are needed to restrict access to weapons . But you seem ok with letting in people who hate us and want to destroy this country. My question is , who are you protecting ? People will kill , hurt, rob, ect. others. Taking guns from everyone will NOT stop this. Don't use a tragedy to do your dirty work for you. And for the sake of not looking stupid, please stop exaggerating what a weapon can ( not ) do. Automatic weapons are not common place and highly regulated. A semi auto only fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. Not thousands of rounds a second. The barrel would not last long if that was possible. We should start in our homes, schools, churches, playgrounds, ect. teaching our children values that matter. Not teaching them hate, violence, and complete disrespect for life. And please stop with the it's all about race thing. Sick, demented , hate filled, people come in all colors, shapes, races, genders.

And once again the man was stopped by a NRA firearms instructor with his own personal rifle. There is not a single piece of gun control that would have stopped this. Maybe you should be busy finding out why the AIr Force didn't report him, because that would have stopped him from being able to purchase a firearm. A law that is already in effect.

You want action.... what action would you like to have that would have stopped this criminal? More than likely any action you would like to have done would stop the man who shot the shooter and not stopped the shooter himself!

I think there are numerous laws about shooting people and those don’t help. I also think there are procedures for checking backgrounds for history that would bar gun purchases, but that failed due to incompetent AF idiots.

There are 50,000 - 60,000 people killed and thousands more injured from cars and many because of cell phones. Let’s ban the autos and the cell phones. Let’s just pass laws to ban idiots.

Just drove past the electronic billboard on I35 that claims over 2,000 people have been killed on Texas roadways. Not to mention all the terror attacks using vehicles, is this not a problem? Should we ban cars? Should we even be talking gun control so soon to a tragedy like this.
So many of these horrible monsters are mentally ill. That’s the real issue and most know this. However; this will not be a part of the discussion until the far-left complete their gun grab. Thank GOD that a good man with a gun stopped this tragedy from continuing.

Shame on you Lloyd Doggett! The problem is mental illness not a gun issue. If properly licensed Concealed Handgun Holders has been armed in the church a lot less people might have been killed and injured.

I’ve emailed Lloyd on numerous occasions asking about what he’s doing to forward his causes after he blasts his peers for inaction. I’ve asked what change he has championed for immigration reform, healthcare, etc. I’ve never gotten a single response. All I see out of this lifelong politician are inflammatory social media posts about what everyone else isn’t doing. Time for old man Lloyd to be sent packing since he can’t stand on his own merit.

Lloyd, it is time to end this nonsense. Gun control needs to happen and it needs to happen NOW! There is no need for automatic or semi-automatic guns, bump stocks or silencers, except to kill PEOPLE. Ex-cons, people with history of serious mental illness and people under 21, don't need to own guns. Guns don't belong on our school campuses. There is no need for open carry without proper training and licensing. Be the leader in this fight!

I don't know even one person who is of the opinion that gun ownership should be illegal. We all should consider who gets their hands on ARs, however.

Crazy people destroy lives. They do it using many different things, yes guns sometimes, but also trucks, airplanes, bombs, fire, acid and so on. If a crazy person wants to kill people they will find away. Guns don't kill people, crazy people do!!!
