Here's Steve Albini's review of Van Halen's 1979 concert in Missoula for student newspaper, The Hellgate Lance.

I was there. My first rock concert. "persistant ringing in the ears indeed." I failed to bring ear plugs and my ears rang for two days.

Glen, I wasn’t at this show, but my friend Shawn Johnson was. VH came back in September of 79 and played Billings, I was at that show.

Interesting (and kind of funny) that Albini heaps much more praise on this at the end than on Van Halen. His Wikipedia entry is all about Ramones, Stooges, Birthday Party, etc. but this comes from a very different place. It's like something happened between '78 and '81 that significantly changed his worldview. I can't even listen to this for more than 5-10 second bursts. https:// www.youtube.com/ watch?v=lfm5YUJ_ xs0

I'm sorry, but did Steve Albini not know that You Really Got Me was by The Kinks, or even what its actual title was? LOL.

I guess at the time Steve wasn't on a first-name basis with... 'Halen'...

The Grateful Dead played the Adams Field house on this day back in 1974. Who threw that aber kegger pitcher at Bob Weir?
Cool! Burch Ray and the Walkers (Miles City) took an old Chan Romero solo demo of "Boppin' And Hoppin'" and added a band! Great job Burch Palmer!
Kelley Fillenworth
They were a heck of a good band. They played at Circle several times and even once at Leroy Jordan's famous place back in the day.
