Enrique Valdez, tortured by Det. Kenneth Boudreau.
It has been one year since Minneapolis PD murdered George Floyd, setting off an international rebellion of historic proportions, and we have yet to see any meaningful change to policing in Chicago. In this year, we've seen Anthony Alvarez, Adam Toledo, Anjanette Young and countless others murdered, brutalized, and harassed by CPD.
We are now closer than ever to passing the People's Ordinance, with a majority of City Council supporting, including the Black, Latinx, Socialist, and Progressive Caucuses. At the last minute, Lightfoot has now released her competing proposal for "community oversight" of CPD, in a clear attempt to undermine our movement for real police accountability. So we are hosting a rally and press conference, to commemorate the life of George Floyd, the rebellion his lynching sparked across the world, and to respond to this new ordinance. Join us at the Thompson Center at 4 PM to demand ECPS Now! #ECPSnow
44th ward ECPS supporters gathered outside of Ann Sather Restaurant & Catering, owned by Alderman Tom Tunney 44th Alderman's Office- Tom Tunney, yesterday morning, to let him and all his customers know that he is standing in the way of justice. Tunney has refused to meet with his constituents about ECPS. So we brought the conversation to him. Call Tom Tunney (773-525-6034) and let him know you demand #ECPSNow
