About Dr Belinda Cannell
I studied Biological Sciences at Murdoch University, and undertook my Honours there too. My project was the Social Behaviour of Captive Hamadryas Baboons at the Perth Zoo.
I worked for a few years as a research assistant at Newcastle Uni, working on projects related to vision in pigeons.
My PhD was on the feeding behaviour of Little Penguins. My supervisor was the amazing Prof Mike Cullen at Monash University, Victoria. I actually had penguins in captivity on campus. It was an incredible project.
I returned to Perth in 1994 and immediately began my journey on researching the Little Penguins in the Perth region with Profs Ron Wooller and Stuart Bradley at Murdoch University.
