As today’s Muhammad Art Exhibit event at the Curtis Culwell Center was coming to an end, two males drove up to the front of the building in a car. Both males were armed and began shooting at a Garland ISD security officer. The GISD security officer's injuries are not life-threatening. Garland Police officers engaged the gunmen, who were both shot and killed.
Police suspect the vehicle may contain an incendiary device and the bomb squad is on the scene. The surrounding businesses including Academy Sports, Walmart and Sam’s are being evacuated. Event participants are also being evacuated from the Curtis Culwell Center for their safety.

It was incredibly stupid to allow an nationally known hate organiztion that has incited riots to hold a hate inspired gathering in a city facility. One person was injured, and many people were in danger. We are fortunate that it was not much worse.

The headline is deceptive and libelous. The press does this way too often, particularly in regards to Israel. Instead of first writing that two perpetrators opened fire and the police responded. they put the police in the position of bad guys first. It's wrong!

The U.S. Is a free country--to some extent--and if people want to draw cartoons of Muhamad and depict him in a not so good light, then let them. Why should Muhamad be excluded from ridicule by people who don't believe? Look at Jesus and all the satirical stuff that is in the media about Him. There is no reason to kill someone over a cartoon, movie, book, play, drawing, painting, song, etc. For someone to be so full of hate that they have to hurt or kill someone makes me think that the prophet they follow must have been very weak--I mean, heck, if Muhamad has to have his followers avenge him, then that is a very weak religion, indeed.

Great job by our officers today. Even though it hasn't been released whether the shooters were Muslim or had any particular motive, we took down two terrorists today even if they ended up not being Muslim.
Also, as a Muslim, I would find the images depicted inside the building disturbing and insulting, but that doesn't mean I would do something crazy! No where in the Quran, or any Islamic text, does it or would it ever say/imply that killing is allowed.
There are some regions in the US where it is very difficult to know what exactly Islam is and what Muslims believe because Muslims aren't really there. Please don't hesitate to contact me, I would love to speak to you about what Islam really is, or put you in contact with an educated person.
