PUBLIC SERVICE OPPORTUNITY!

In 2015 a Long Term Restrictive Housing Work Group was created in state law and is charged with providing some level of oversight over restrictive housing in the Department of Correctional Services. Last year, the Legislature changed the membership slightly and it has come to my attention that two spots are currently vacant.

If you or someone you know is a mental health professional, have worked in a restrictive housing unit in the past, have advocated for the rights of incarcerated individuals or have just been engaged in activities related to the correctional system, you qualify for one of those spots and the State of Nebraska could use your help.

If you would like to know more, please send me a note or respond to this posting.

You can also apply for a spot with the Governor's office by going to https://governor.nebraska.gov/board-comm-req.

I am a 3 time felon myself.
Have lived in and worked for a restricted living place (Transitional Living).
I have also been an inmate in a restricted housing dorm in OCC during my SAU 9 month program.
I have been out of prison for 6 years almost and I have worked with prison ministry, street outreach, speak to youth groups, etc..

I also currently use social media as a digital soapbox so to speak to help encourage felons and recovering addicts.

Focusing on reintegration and recovery and a little reform as well.

I wasted alot of time and effort to my past addictions.
But today I try to make up for lost time by helping others best I can.

I am also thinking about going to school for Drug and Alcohol counseling. (LADC)

I have a page and group you could follow and join if you like..

Page is..

Group is...

I would be intrested in anything I could do to help.

I may not be able to work in some things due to my felony record, but I am willing to do what I can.

Have a great day and continue working towards a better system and community.

Sincerely,
Eugene Butler

Eugene Butler III Use the link to apply. The group has one other person with actual experience inside prison and I can't think of any reason what could be wrong with two people with such experiences.

What Words We Use — and Avoid — When Covering People and Incarceration
