Fiach Smyth - hopefully our very rare Kanye mentions are less annoying than the rest

Andres Vicente - that's why it's worded your favourite artists, rather than every one of them. I only have alerts set up for Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Sharon Van Etten, Antlers, NiN and a few others. When I know Glastonbury are making announcements I temporarily set up notifications for it but beyond that I haven't found a solution for how overwhelming the internet is. - Sean

I go with the list option. I follow hundreds of bands, labels, and science and food sites, and don't have a handful of favourites I want to focus on. Getting notifications for every single update would kill my ability to use facebook. The list, on the other hand, means I can pull up my music list once or twice a day and skim through all the Kanye articles that everyone insists on posting.

For me it's simple: I added all my favorite pages to a list (see Interests lists on the left menu) and I bookmarked that list. I get every update from these pages. I don't need that classic News Feed anymore.

I'm with Fiach there. The notification thing only moves the clutter from one place to another. "Liking" less things would be more convenient then. Otherwise that's what lists (and the pages feed) are there for.

What Facebook should add is an option that allowed to hide things from the main feed but kept them visible on the liked pages feed. I hide a lot of stuff from my main feed to declutter, but I'd like to keep it visible on the pages feed so from time to time I could go and do a quick browse of updates. But I guess that would reduce the need to pay for sponsored stuff, of course...
