Look ma! I collaborated with Hokusai! And with @smithsonian ! And I’m not kidding!!
I had a big honor of being asked to custom make an image for Smithsonian @freersackler Museum inspired by Hokusai’s famous… Lisää Thunder God painting (2nd pic). My Thunder Goddess were made into bunch of fun merchandise (I was told more are being manufactured now), and sold during recent Hokusai: Mad about Painting exhibit. (Show will run for a year.)
As you know, all the Smithsonian Institute museums are free of charge to enter. Another reason to go visit DC!

كان لي الشرف اليوم -وللمرة الاولى- بمشاهدة الفيلم اليمني (عشرة أيام قبل الزفة) والذي تم عرضه في العاصمة الامريكية واشنطن للمرة الثالثة. وهو فيلم يمني تم ترشيحه للحصول على جائزة الاوسكار كأفضل فيلم يعرض بلغة… Lisää اجنبية.
يحكي الفيلم قصة شابان ارادا ان يتزوجا في ظل الظروف التي عاشتها ام المساكين مدينة عدن اثناء الحرب الأهلية التي قامت في العام ألفين وخمسة عشر، ولكن في كل مره يتم تأجل موعد الزفاف بسبب الحرب او بسبب الاثار التي خلفتها الحرب من عطاله وغلاء وتدمير الكثير من بيوت السكان.
حقيقةً قد ابدع المخرج عمرو جمال وجميع طاقم العمل في تمثيل الصورة التي يمر بها اليمن منذ عقود من الصراعات وليس فقط بعد حرب ٢٠١٥. وكما قالت شيماء بطلة الفلم: "الحرب لسا ماخلصتش، الحرب مستمره بس بطريقة ثانية."
وبالرغم من ان اعمال انتاج واخراج فيلم كهذا لم تكلف الا ٣٣ الف دولار، الا انني اعتقد انها مبادرة رائعه لاستقطاب الانظار الى مايجري في اليمن خصوصًا من فئة الشباب، والدعوة لاستقطاب المبادرات الخيرية في بلادنا بطريقة مختلفة عن المعتاد.
وفي النهاية، ماشاهدته اليوم لم يكن الا مثالا بسيطا جدا لما يحدث في اليمن، وما خُفي كان اعظم ...
