Monmouth University is a private university located in West Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.Founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College, it became Monmouth College in 1956, and later Monmouth University in 1995 after receiving its charter.There are about 4,400 full-time and 260 part-time undergraduate and 1,750 graduate students, as well as 302 full-time faculty members. About 80% of faculty members hold Ph.D.s or other terminal degrees in their field of study. The university's student-to-faculty ratio is about 14:1. Because of the university's relatively small student population, class sizes are capped between 20 and 35 and no classes are taught by teaching assistants. Forty-four percent of students live on-campus. Most of Monmouth's student body is drawn from the northeastern United States, although students from 29 states and 28 foreign countries add to the school's diversity.HistoryMonmouth College was founded in 1933 as a junior college. On January 18, 1956, Monmouth received accreditation to grant four-year Bachelor's degrees, and in March 1995, it received its university charter from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education.

The original 52 room mansion at Shadow Lawn was built in 1903 by John A. McCall, president of New York Life Insurance. After only three summers, he was found guilty of bribing state legislators and forced to… Lisää sell it. Lifelong scammer Abraham White bought the property, but was convicted of larceny after one season at Shadow Lawn. In 1909, the estate was sold to Colonel Joseph Greenhut, who invited President Woodrow Wilson to use Shadow Lawn as his summer White House in 1915-1916. The estate was sold once again, this time to FW Woolworth president Hubert Templeton Parson, who had to completely rebuild the mansion after a fire destroyed the original one in 1927. Parson’s new Italian marble mansion boasted 130 rooms, and was the 5th largest house in America. It became part of Monmouth College in 1956, and was used as Daddy Warbucks’ mansion in the 1982 film Annie.
