On March 1, I will join people from around the world on The Great March for Climate Action, walking nearly 3,000 miles across America.

Community

WHAT? I’m NOT jumping out of an airplane this time and I’m NOT hiking the Grand Canyon, but I AM walking 3,000 miles across this great country of ours to bring attention to the need for Climate ACTION in Florida, in the United States, and around the Globe!
WHEN? On March 1, 2014, I will join marchers from around the world on The Great March for Climate Action—2014. We begin in Los Angeles, walk nearly 3,000 miles and 7 million steps and arrive in Washington, DC on November 1, eight months later.
WHY? The goal of The Great March for Climate Action is to change the hearts and minds of the American people, elected leaders on all levels of government, and people around the world inspiring them to address the climate crisis…now! The price for waiting may be too costly to pay.
HOW? Along the March route (www.climatemarch.org) we’ll talk to people who have struggled with extreme weather in its many forms: drought, fire and flood. We’ll hear stories from those who have found innovative ways to adapt to the climate changes impacting their communities and states. I’ll share what Florida is doing to rouse our elected officials to action: Sea Level Rise Symposiums, our four-county SE Florida Regional Climate Action Plan, advocacy events and workshops, panel discussions and more.
RESULTS? We will talk with the media about the stories we’ve heard from people in the towns and cities we walk through: Phoenix, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Denver, Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Washington DC. When we arrive in Washington on November 1st, we’ll share the stories we have collected with our nation’s leaders. Those stories will illustrate why Americans demand Climate ACTION NOW!
SUPPORT? You can support me in spirit by supporting the League’s Climate Change events here in Palm Beach County next year and following my weekly “Kathe's Great March- Where Is She Now?” travelogue on www.thefloridavoter.org beginning in March. You can support me in fact in two ways: join me anywhere along the March route and walk a day or two, or three…join me in DC for the climax of the March, or you can donate to my marching effort so that you DON’T have to walk with me! THANK YOU! I am proud to be your representative on a mission that means so much to the future of Florida, the United States and this planet we take for granted. The Earth needs our help to find balance once again. It's my hope that the Great March for Climate Action—2014 will be the first seven million steps toward finding that balance.
