New Years Eve Part I: the traditional parties
The year 2011 is going to end and it's time to think about New Year's Eve celebration.
Everyone has different tastes and needs, so let's look at the possibility that Barcelona offers.

1. Party at home with friends: for me it's generally the best choice. It's a perfect opportunity to get together and celebrate, cooking good food, spanding time with people that sometimes it is difficult to bring together, dancing all night long. Good option if you know some funny people in Barcelona: ask for that, persons here like sharing!

2. If you want to participate in the tradicional celebrations around the city, here can find the main ones.

- Plaza Catalunya: an huge open celebration takes place here every year.  An enormous crowd enjoys the most famous square in Barcelona waiting for midnight and for dawn of course. The vast majority are foreign tourists who want to have a great time, so that the party is virtually guaranteed. Good choice if you want to meet people and stay in the center. From Catalunya every kind of discos, bars and clubs is easy to reach.

- Poble Espanyol:  it is a very special part of the city built in 1929 in which he tried to capture the Spanish architecture, so buildings represent different architectural styles in Spain. Every year about 3,000 people gather to enjoy music and good atmosphere. There are three different areas,  drinks and a tasting popular chocolate at 6:30in the morning.

- Fashion night at Port Olimpic: if you are looking for exclusive parties, this is definitely your place. Opium, Shoko and many others clubs where party is all night long. Quite expensive!

Wherever you are, never forget the spanish tradition of 12 grapes. People gather around a table, down the street, at restaurant, in the middle of Plaza Catalunya with a bag of grapes and eat 12 at midnight, to take one for each peal of bells. According to tradition, this event will give you luck throughout the year. Having taken the grapes, people toast with a glass of champagne, kissing and welcoming the new year.
And look for the spectacular lights show taking place at Torre Agbar: it is worth to see.
