One of our favorite Faire Family Stories;
There once was a wild and wooly Scotsman that worked the old faire. He was a wild child and liked to party... a lot.
Then 911 hit. It happened during faire season.
That same week that wild Scotsman surprised us all and bid us farewell. He was joining up to serve our country.
In the 10 years that followed, he started a family with a wonderful woman with twin girls, along came two more. ![]()
He served on multiple tours with the Air Force in Iraq and Afghanistan. He reenlisted and was promoted several times.
Our wild Scotsman became a career military man.
In 2011, he returned to faire with his beautiful family and was knighted by the Queen and declared our Village Champion.
Still on active duty, and in between missions, Staff Sargent Charles "McStagger" Johnson serves as our village blacksmith, teaching new apprentices and customers the craft of blacksmithing. Stop by and say, "Hello" to Charles and his wife Jodianne.
Their daughters are busy performing with our cast.
We are very proud to have many veterans and active duty personnel as part of our faire family. ![]()

Our little village of Willingtown comes to life as our annual Market Faire welcomes talented and exotic performers from throughout the globe to our streets and stages. Six stages with non-stop entertainment.
The streets and stages are filled with music and dance from traditional Morris and English Country, to Celtic and Gypsy Tribal. Swashbuckling swordfighters render women defenseless with their charm and skill.
The town is buzzing as the villagers prepare for a visit from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth and the most famous Privateer of the time, Sir Walter Raleigh. Happy peasants, crooked Constables, gossiping washerwomen, and merry maidens fill the streets with revelry as the festivities begin.

But this post makes me think of how the sounds of the faire alone are worth going for: acoustic melodies, bells, drums, and voices singing, conversing, playing. It’s like nothing you’ll hear anywhere else.
