Coyote Lake Mummy Mountain, Coyote Ridge Hike, 3/29/21 by Ronald Horii
On 3/29/21, I went for a hike in Coyote Lake/Harvey Bear Ranch County Park on the Mendoza-Mummy Mountain-Coyote Ridge Trail loop, with a side trip to Roop Pond. This is one of the best hikes in the park. I've been here many times and even led walks here. I used to teach a photography class that started in the parking lot and used the trail for photo ops. I was on the inaugural hike here in 2010. This shows why it's called Mummy Mountain: http://www.stpfriends.org/MummyMtn/TrailDay_04-24-10.html
The Mummy Mountain Trail was designed and built for hiking only. It runs through a wide variety of terrain and environments, with breathtaking views on both sides of the ridge. It has interesting rock formations. There are all kinds of wildflowers in the spring, especially on the north end. Here's a tour of the trail.
