San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail Bike Ride, 1/16/21 by Ronald Horii
This is a bike ride guide. On 1/16/21, I went for a bike ride on the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail in Santa Clara. I've ridden on the trail many times. I made this webpage on it, which has more details, pictures, background history, maps, and links on the trail::

The trail starts at the San Francisco Bay Trail near Alviso and heads south, following San Tomas Aquino Creek. Starting south of Monroe St., it runs next to San Tomas Expressway. Starting at Cabrillo Ave., it splits. There's a class 1 (off-street) section that continues to follow San Tomas Expressway to Homestead Road. There's an on-street route that runs to Pruneridge Ave. A bike route continues to the city limits at Stevens Creek Blvd. While I've taken both separately, I wanted to try doing both in the same day. I rode the class 1 trail all the way from the Bay Trail to Homestead Rd. I took Homestead to Santa Clara Central Park. From there, I rode to the on-street route on Pomeroy. I took that Pruneridge and Cronin to reach Stevens Creek Blvd., where I turned around and backtracked. I took Pomeroy to Calabazas and Cabrillo. That took me back to the class 1 trail, which I took back to the Bay Trail.
The next section of Saratoga Creek Trail is close to, but not contiguous with the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail route. It's separated by Lawrence Expressway and I-280. There's no easy pedestrian/bicycle-friendly way to go around them to get to the trail. This was my trip on the Saratoga Creek Trail, 1/3/21. It's a nice trail, but isolated:
