Saratoga Quarry Park's Saratoga to the Skyline Trail, 11/4/20 by Ronald Horii
I've been waiting for months for a new trail to open in Saratoga's Quarry Park.
The new trail is called the "Saratoga to the Skyline Trail," and it connects Quarry Park to 3453-acre Sanborn County Park. Sanborn has trails that connect to the Skyline to the Sea Trail, so this trail eventually provides a route from Saratoga to the sea. I got a tip from geocachers that it was open, so I went to check it out. I've been to Quarry Park many times (see the links below), and I've seen the trailhead before. I took the shortest route to get there, then I hiked the first part of the trail. I didn't have time to do all of it. Next time, I may start at Sanborn and come down. The trail was a joint effort between the City of Saratoga, who hired the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz to build the trail from Quarry Park, and the Santa Clara County Parks, who built the part of the trail in Sanborn. Part of the route shares a private access road to the Mount Eden Vineyards.
