Martial Cottle Park Crops, 8/7/15 by Ronald Horii
I visited Martial Cottle Park on 8/7/15 to see how the park looked and what was growing. There's an amazing variety of crops and plants here. The reason for so many different types of crops is that the farmers are doing a kind of experiment, seeing what grows best in this soil, which hasn't been farmed in years. There's an event coming up in the fall where you should be able to buy produce grown on the ranch: Harvest Festival, Martial Cottle Park, 10/3/15, 10am - 3pm
Come celebrate the legacy and significance of our valley’s rich agricultural heritage at this fun day on the farm! Family friendly activities, healthy food and fresh produce for sale, music and much more. Volunteers needed, check parkhere.org/volunteers for more details. Check flyer for more details about this event. Questions? (408) 535-4060 https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/Documents/MCP%20Harvest%20Festival%20flyer.pdf
There's also a wide variety of plants and trees used for landscaping. Here are pictures.
