Fire Near the SCCMAS Airshow, 7/11/15 by Ronald Horii
I went to the annual R/C airshow at the Santa Clara County Model Aircraft Skypark on the Coyote Creek Trail in Morgan Hill on 7/11/15. I got more of a show than I expected when a grass fire broke out on the hills across from the skypark on the other side of 101. Since 101 is an effective firebreak, there was no fire danger to the skypark, but it stopped the show as all model planes were grounded while air firefighting resources were in the vicinity. The audience got treated to a dramatic demonstration of real firefighting operations in action. The firefighters quickly put out the fire, which covered about 25 acres, but it could have been much worse, as the hills are bone dry. Here are pictures of the fire and the efforts to extinguish it.
