Views of the Rancho San Vicente Fire from Santa Teresa Park, 7/3 by Ronald Horii
On the afternoon of June 28, 2015, there was a wildfire in the South Almaden Valley on McKean Road that burned over 80 acres: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/06/28/wildfire-consumes-over-80-acres-near-san-jose/
It became a 3-alarm fire fought by over 100 firefighters. No structures were burned, and there were no injuries. What wasn't mentioned was that the fire was in a County Park. It was in a corner of Rancho San Vicente, the newest addition to Calero County Park, currently in the process of being opened to the public. It's not open yet, but part of it can easily be seen from McKean Road and from Santa Teresa Park. I climbed up the Stile Ranch Trail in Santa Teresa Park on 7/3/15 to get a view of the fire damage. Here are the pictures from the trail and from McKean Road. — at Santa Teresa County Park. (near Santa Teresa County Park)
