Sierra Vista Boccardo Hill Views by Ronald Horii
On 2/22/15, I went to Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve with other Santa Clara County Open Space Authority docents for a training session and hike on the Aquila Trail. Unfortunately, it was so windy, the hike was canceled. The wind was very strong in the parking lot. It was blowing from north to south, so the Aquila Trail probably would also have been wind-blown. Since I hiked the Aquila Trail the previous week, so I didn't need to hike it again: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.880372691986254.1073741883.100000405933924&type=1&l=9140eca55f
I also hiked the Sierra Vista Trail from the parking lot east:

However, when I hiked it, there was a lot of haze in the air, restricting the visibility. Today, the strong winds had cleared the air, so visibility was much better. I decided to hike to vista point on top of Boccardo Hill.to take in the view. I've been to Boccardo Hill several times, but only when the surrounding hills were brown. Today, the hills were green. So this was a unique photo opportunity that I couldn't miss, wind or no wind. I hiked out to Boccardo Hill, took pictures of the view, then stated to hike back. On the way back, I noticed the lighting had changed, so I went back again. By the time I got back to the parking lot, it was after sunset, so I got some pictures with the city lights on. Here are pictures from the hike. — at Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve. (near Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve)
