View from the John Nicholas Trail by Ronald Horii
It was a clear day on 1/31/15. I thought this might be a good opportunity to check out the view from the John Nicholas Trail in Sanborn County Park. The John Nicholas Trail starts from the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains near Skyline Blvd. It winds down the steep hillside to Lake Ranch Reservoir and on a flat service Road to Black Road. It runs almost entirely through dense forests until it reaches Lake Ranch Reservoir. That provides for a shady hike or ride down the hill, but the trees block the view, except for one spot. That one viewpoint was my destination. It's only 0.5 miles from the trailhead to the viewpoint, so it's an easy hike, suitable for all ages. — at Sanborn-Skyline County Park.
