Rancho San Vicente POST Hike, 11/23/14 by Ronald Horii
On 11/23/14, the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) organized a hike at Rancho San Vicente. POST originally purchased the 966-acre property on June 1, 2009, which saved it from development. On June 13, 2009, they held a hike of the property, which I attended: http://www.stpfriends.org/SanVicente/Hike.html
POST sold the land to Santa Clara County later that year. The next year, POST held another hike, but in the springtime, when the wildflowers were out: http://www.stpfriends.org/RSV-04-10-10/Hike.html
The next week, on 4/17/10, I led the first County Parks public hike there: http://www.stpfriends.org/RSV_04-17-10/Hike.html
While I've led or co-led many hikes at Rancho San Vicente over the years, today was the first time since 2010 that I've been on a POST hike. It was much larger than the typical County Parks hike. There were about 80 people on the hike. Also, we met directly at the ranch, instead of at Calero. Here are pictures from the hike: — at Hike Rancho San Vicente with POST's NextGen Committee.
