Geocachers of the Bay Area Chesbro Cleanup Event by Ronald Horii
On Coastal Cleanup Day, 9/20/14, a couple dozen geocachers from the Geocachers of the Bay Area had a cleanup event at Chesbro Reservoir County Park in Morgan Hill. It was organized by Cass Kalinski and Sam Drake. Chesbro Reservoir was very low, leaving a lot of the shoreline and the dam exposed. There was a lot of litter from fishermen and other people using the reservoir. There was also a lot of old junk that had been underwater for a long time, but were now exposed. The volunteers worked with County Park Ranger Doug Allen and Benjy Doi from Park Maintenance.

We did creek week with a girl scout troop and one of them found two pounds of reloading gunpowder! Students at Harbor College in 1972 were clearing weeds and willows to make a "nature trail" and found a bunch of pot plants and (allegedly) a pair of ankles pointing out of the lake there onto the shore. Never a dull moment.

Nice pics Ron, a good illustration of the drought underway.
