Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, Almaden Valley, San Jose, 3/14/24 by Ronald Horii
This is an update to the Facebook album I made with pictures from 2016 and 2017 of Guadalupe Oak Grove Park: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1430635083626676.1073742204.100000405933924&type=1&l=b4d6a1d661. The park is a 62.7-acre oasis of open space in the middle of San Jose's highly-developed Almaden Valley. It has groves of old oak trees and sandstone hills where there was once a rock quarry. There are shady paths through the oak forests and hillside trails with views of the Almaden Valley and the South Bay. In the spring, the park is covered with green grass and wildflowers. To get there, take Almaden Expressway to McAbee Road. Turn left on Thorntree Drive. There are entrances at Fontana Park or farther north on Thorntree Drive, where there's a small parking lot and restroom. There's also a neighborhood entrance on Vargas Drive. This is the 1987 Master Plan, which tells about the history and natural conditions of the site before it was developed into a park: https://saveourparktrees.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/guadalupe-oak-grove-park.pdf.
