Bernal Ranch and Santa Teresa Spring After Rainstorm 2/5/24 by Ronald Horii
After a relatively dry start to the rainy season, San Jose got over 3 inches of rain in the past 5 days. That's a lot for San Jose, which is over %100 of normal to date. If it keeps up, we won't have to worry about being in a drought. Fortunately, the rain hasn't been as heavy as in Southern California. On 2/5/24, the rain stopped long enough for me to check out conditions at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch and Santa Teresa Spring at Santa Teresa County Park. Water was running everywhere, even in places it's not supposed to be. The rain has promoted lush vegetation growth. Unfortunately, a lot those are weeds, so we'll be busy doing weeding in the coming months. This is the weeding volunteers did last year on 3/3/23: https://tinyurl.com/26wdehx8.
