Water, Wildlife and Connectivity at Spreckels Hill, 1/27/24 by Ronald Horii
On 1/27/24, this event was held in the Spreckels (also spelled Spreckles) Hill area of the North Coyote Valley Conservation Area: "Join the Open Space Authority to explore and learn all about water, wildlife, and connectivity in Coyote Valley! We will climb to the top of Spreckels Hill to take in the view of the Valley of Heart’s Delight, eat a snack, and do some reflection on the significance of this special open space. The walk itself will be 1/2 a mile up a small hill and back. "
There was a similar event last year: "Spreckles Hill Walk, 1/21/23": https://tinyurl.com/yd4fvmjs. There was a previous one in 2022, which was the first public event held at the site: "Winter Exploration of Spreckles Hill, 1/8/22": https://tinyurl.com/5xz8c8pj. Spreckels Hill is part of the 953-acre North Coyote Valley Conservation Area. It is normally closed to the public, except for special events or by request. The hike was led by the Open Space Authority's Volunteer Program Coordinator Kat Hill, assisted by Educational Program Coordinator Michelle Garcia. A group of docents (including me) also accompanied the hike. Below are pictures of the hike.
