Coyote Creek Trail AARP/Ridge Trail Senior Hike, 1/26/24 by Ronald Horii
On 1/26/24, there was a hike for seniors on the Coyote Creek Trail starting at Metcalf Park in San Jose. It was part of AARP's "Let's Take It Outside" program: https://states.aarp.org/california/letʼstakeitoutside. The event was a partnership between AARP and the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council (BART). This was the description: "Let’s Take it Outside: Explore the Coyote Creek Trail at Metcalf Park.
Join us and the Bay Ridge Trail for a leisurely hike along the picturesque Coyote Creek Trail in San Jose. The Coyote Creek Trail is one of the longest trail systems extending from the Bay to the City's southern boundary and provides views of the waterway, and urban and rural settings. During this hike, participants will meet at Metcalf Park and stroll 1.87 miles of a paved, multi-use trail. Wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers are welcome." Guests met at Metcalf Park, which is a City of San Jose park on Santa Clara County and Valley Water property. After checking in at the park, they walked down the paved trail through Metcalf Park to the water ski are on the Coyote Percolation Pond, led by Natalia Cortes. She led the group in stretching and nature awareness exercises. Below are pictures of the walk.
