FOSTP Work Day at the Bernal Ranch, 1/5/24 by Ronald Horii
On 1/5/24 the Friends of Santa Teresa Park (FOSTP) had a First Friday Work Day at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch in Santa Teresa County Park. FOSTP members there were Mike Boulland, Ron Horii, Youngmee Kim, and Joan Murphy. There were also 7 other volunteers, some here for the first time. Providing instructions and assistance were Park Interpreter Rob McDonnell and Park Maintenance worker Alex Ale. We raked up leaves around the ranch buildings, cut blackberries, and cleared the gutter above the Manila Drive wall. There are big valley oaks above the Caretaker's House and the ranch house. They drop huge amounts of leaves. Though we raked up the leaves, there are still more that haven't fallen. We can clean up the rest on a future work day, if needed.
