Guadalupe River to Alamitos Creek: Birds and Fish, 11/30/23 by Ronald Horii
After reading about salmon in Los Gatos Creek, on 11/28/23, I went to the Los Gatos Creek Trail in Campbell and saw salmon spawning in the creek from the trail: https://tinyurl.com/bdhzct6h. I also read about salmon in the Guadalupe River around Almaden Lake. On 11/29/23, I went to the Guadalupe River Trail near the Almaden Light Rail Station and saw a salmon in the river: https://tinyurl.com/rp893tec. It was late in the day, so I ran out of time to see if there were more salmon elsewhere. On 11/30/23, I went back to the same place on the Guadalupe River Trail, but earlier in the day. I then walked to look for salmon in Guadalupe Creek, Almaden Lake, and Alamitos Creek. I saw live and dead salmon. I also saw lots of birds. Here are pictures from my walk. There were nice clouds, so I took pictures of landscapes too. Photo notes: I used 2 cameras for these pictures: my Panasonic ZS100 10X travelzoom for the wide angle and extreme telephoto shots, and my Olympus OMD E-M10 with a 40-150mm zoom lens (80-300mm equivalent), with a polarizing filter for medium telephoto shots. I switched to a 14-42mm lens (28-84mm equivalent), also with a polarizing filter, for the last few landscape shots. Here are more of my pictures of this area: http://www.rhorii.com/#AlmadenValley
