Rocky Ridge/Coyote Peak Hike, Santa Teresa Park, 11/1/23 by Ronald Horii
The Rocky Ridge Trail in Santa Teresa County Park was severely eroded by heavy winter rains. During and after rainy winters, it tends to get so eroded and muddy that it requires closure to all users, including hikers. This fall, major reconstruction work was done on the trail to make it more weather-resistant. On 9/29/23, I went to explore the trail. Construction work was near completion. I hiked partway up the trail, and this is what I saw: https://tinyurl.com/jryhmbh5. That album shows what the trail looked like when it was in bad shape and why the reconstruction work was necessary. The work is now done. The trail is open to all users. On 11/1/23, I hiked the entire Rocky Ridge Trail, and continued on to Coyote Peak. I came back to the Pueblo Area on the Coyote Peak and Hidden Springs Trail. Below are pictures from my loop hike. Here are more pictures of Santa Teresa Park: http://www.stpfriends.org/#newpictures.
