King Tides at Alameda Creek and Coyote Hills by Ronald Horii
Jan. 31, 2014 was the last day of the King Tides this winter. I went to Alameda Creek at Coyote Hills Regional Park. Alameda Creek is a tidal slough here, so the effects of the King Tide are dramatic. I reached the Alameda Creek Trail right about at the peak of the tide, then biked down the trail to the Bay. As I rode back, the tide began to rapidly recede. In the afternoon, it was noticeably lower. You can see pictures of Coyote Hills and the Alameda Creek Trail in my 14-year-old Bay Trail webpage: http://www.abag.ca.gov/bayarea/baytrail/vtour/map4/access/CyteHils/ACT_from_Bayview_connector.JPG — at Coyote Hills Regional Park. (near Coyote Hills Regional Park)
