First Day on the Bay at Alviso Marina County Park, 10/16/10 by Ronald Horii
Note that I created this album in 2023, just before Day on the Bay on 10/14/23. I realized I never made an album for the first Day on the Bay in 2010. Here it is. Here's an article about the first Day on the Bay: https://www.mercurynews.com/2010/10/16/day-on-the-bay-launches-in-alviso-and-draws-big-multicultural-crowd/. It was a free event hosted by Santa Clara County District 3 Supervisor Dave Cortese and the county parks department. Cortese previously hosted the Evergreen area’s annual Day in the Park multicultural event at Lake Cunningham Park when he was a San Jose City Councilmember. He was inspired to create the Day on the Bay event after he attended the grand opening of the Alviso Marina boat ramps in June of 2010. Day on the Bay was a multicultural event, featuring live entertainment, kayak rides, food, pumpkins, jump houses, and exhibitors. Everything was free. The pictures below show the event and are mostly in chronological order. Here are more of my pictures of Alviso Marina County Park: https://www.rhorii.com/#AlvisoMarina. Here are my pictures of the San Francisco Bay Trail, which includes Alviso: http://www.rhorii.com/index.html#baytrail. Here's information and a map of Alviso Marina County Park: https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Pages/AlvisoMarina.aspx. I made this webpage with sunset pictures at the Alviso Marina in 2010. It also includes pictures from the Grand Opening on June 5, 2010: http://www.stpfriends.org/Alviso_11-27-10/Sunset.html. Here are pictures of the Grand Opening on 6/5/10: https://tinyurl.com/yck3mcf9. Here's information about the 2023 Day on the Bay, sponsored by District 3 Supervisor Otto Lee, who continued the tradition after Dave Cortese termed out as supervisor and was elected to the state senate: https://d3.santaclaracounty.gov/take-action/day-bay-2023
