Morgan Hill's West Little Llagas Creek Trail, 9/16/23 by Ronald Horii
I saw some news from Valley Water about restoration work in Morgan Hill on Llagas Creek and Lake Silveira: https://www.valleywater.org/news-events/news-releases/valley-water-builds-new-wetland-and-restores-llagas-creek-part-upper. Here's a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw_cLFTqgpk.
This is part of the larger Upper Llagas Creek Flood Protection Project: https://www.woodardcurran.com/upper-llagas-creek-flood-protection-project-breaks-ground-2/.
I had never heard about Lake Silveira before, so I looked into it. I found out that there was a new trail leading to it. Here's information about the new trail: https://www.morganhill.ca.gov/1720/West-Little-Llagas-Creek-Trail-Extension.
The new trail is an extension of the existing West Little Llagas Creek Trail, which runs from Spring Ave. to Watsonville Rd:
https://www.morganhill.ca.gov/1547/Wildlife-Corridor. The extension takes it south to Lake Silveira near Monterey Hwy.
I was in Morgan Hill on Saturday 9/16/23, so I went to check out the new trail, as well as the older trails that I've never been on before.

I decided to explore the entire trail system. It's a combination of the Edmondson Creek Trail and the West Little Llagas Creek Trail. I started in the middle in Paradise Park, which is on the Edmundson Creek Trail. I followed the trail to the end, came back, and hit the middle of the West Little Llagas Creek Trail. I followed it north to the Morgan Hill Community Park on W. Edmundson Avenue. I explored the park, then hopped back on the trail. I followed it north to its end on Spring Avenue. I backtracked on the trail, then took it south to the new section starting at Watsonville Road. I followed that to its end at Monterey Hwy, very close to Lake Silveira. This route is a little complicated because in some places the trail runs run both sides of the creek. In others, it runs on one side of the creek. I crossed from one side of the creek to the other. I may not have taken the most efficient route, but I was exploring. See the descriptions in my travelogue below.
