Coyote Creek Dried Up Pt 2: Silver Creek to Metcalf, 8/17/23 by Ronald Horii
This is a continuation from Pt. 1: "Coyote Creek Dried up, Silver Creek to Hellyer, 8/10/23": https://tinyurl.com/mcnsxz2p. That album talks about how the flows in Coyote Creek are related to the water level in Anderson Reservoir. I've been riding my bike on the Coyote Creek Trail, looking at the condition of the creek. It's dried up or is drying up. On 8/17/23, I rode from Silver Creek Valley Road to Metcalf Road. The creek was totally dry from Silver Creek Valley Road to the Coyote Creek Percolation Pond in Metcalf Park. Valley Water is tearing down the old flatboard dam on the pond and replacing it with an inflatable dam, so they can raise and lower it much more quickly and with less labor. Water is flowing into the pond, but it's percolating into the ground and not flowing out of it. Here's what the creek looks like now, with pictures from various times earlier in the year, when there was more water in it. Note the dates on the pictures. Part of this route was covered in this album: "Coyote Creek Drying Up, Metcalf Park to Bailey Ave., 7/10/23":
