National Night Out, Comanche Blossom Valley NA, 8/1/23 by Ronald Horii
The second Tuesday in August is National Night Out (NNO) Day. Neighbors and neighborhood organizations all over the country hold meet-and-greet events where members of the community can meet each other and public service agencies. The purpose is to promote public safety and reduce crime. Here's more information about it: National Night Out (nationwide): https://natw.org/ . National Night Out (San Jose PD): https://www.sjpd.org/community/crime-prevention/national-night-out. NNOs are held in parks, community centers, libraries, and private homes. The Comanche Blossom Valley Neighborhood Association held their NNO at the home of my friends and fellow Friends of Santa Teresa Park members Greg and Roxanne Koopman on Yurok Circle. They had firetrucks, games, free food, and drinks. Councilmember Arjun Batra stopped by. I heard that Mayor Matt Mahan would be coming later, but I left before then.
