Estaban Fortini Tunnel at Play Like a Miner, 7/29/23 by Ronald Horii
The annual (except during the pandemic) Play Like a Miner event was held at the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum on 7/29/23. One of the most popular parts of it was the Estaban Fortini Tunnel. It's a temporary simulated mine tunnel erected around the Blacksmith Shop. Members of the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association (NAQCPA) came up with the idea and built it. The construction was much improved from previous years thanks to wood from Mike Boulland. One of his fences fell down, and he donated the wood to NAQCPA to build the tunnel. The tunnel has to be taken down after the event because of fire regulations. The wood is held on with screws, so it can be disassembled, stored, and re-assembled next year. Here are more albums of the event: "Play Like a Miner at the Casa Grande, Volunteers & Staff, 7/29/23": https://tinyurl.com/3ht4p2th.
