Prescribed Burn/Fire Training, Santa Teresa Park, 6/28-29/23 by Ronald Horii
Prescribed burns have been scheduled for Santa Teresa County Park from June 28-30, 2023. I went to see it on June 28, but I got there in the afternoon as the firefighters were wrapping up. I saw the areas that were burned. On June 29, I got there before noon and saw the firefighters in action. They were starting fires and putting them out. Some were on the flat areas of the Pueblo Area. Others were on Trench Hill and along Bernal Road. Here are pictures from both days. (It was too hot on 6/30 to go see it.)

Prescribed burns in the Pueblo Area are regular events, used for vegetation management and firefighter training. There are also non-burn training events for students learning to become firefighters. Here are my pictures of the most recent past firefighter training events in Santa Teresa Park:
