Kingsnake Program, Santa Teresa Park, 6/23/23 by Ronald Horii
On 6/23/23, there was a kingsnake program at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch in Santa Teresa County Park, led by Park Interpreter Rob McDonnell: "We learn about all kinds of monarchs in history class, but have you ever wanted to hang out with a king...snake? This program offers you and your friends and family the chance to meet Morticia, Santa Clara County Parks' California kingsnake, and learn why she is so well adapted to the habitats surrounding the Santa Clara Valley and beyond! Meet at the Bernal Ranch near the barn. Families strongly encouraged to attend." Rob showed Morticia, with the help of Park Interpreter Sofia. He talked about kingsnakes, where they live, and what they eat. He passed around pictures, including a map of where in the US California kingsnakes are found. The event was very popular. About 60 people showed up, with lots of kids. The kids had lots of questions.
These are 2 other kingsnake programs that Rob did with Morticia:
