Almaden Quicksilver Flowers, Nature Photography Day, 6/15/23 by Ronald Horii
June 15 is Nature Photography Day. It was designated as such by the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) in 2006 and has been celebrated yearly since then: https://nanpa.org/events/nature-photography-day/
I'm not a member of NANPA, but I celebrate Nature Photography Day by going out and taking pictures of nature. I do that almost every day anyway, but it's another excuse to get out and take pictures. There's a BioBlitz associated with the day:

I joined that project and went out to take pictures to upload to the BioBlitz project on iNaturalist. I used my phone to take the pictures, since the iNaturalist entries require location information. My phone automatically geotags the pictures, so it's easier to use it for iNaturalist observations. I also used my travelzoom camera for telephoto shots. I went to Almaden Quicksilver County Park, since it has a lot of biodiversity. I hiked the Mine Hill, New Almaden, and Senador Mine Trails. Below are pictures of the native plants and the views from the trails. Most were taken with my phone (Samsung A42), except for the zoom-ins and some of the wide angle shots, which were taken with my travelzoom (Panasonic ZS100). Here are more of my BioBlitz pictures: http://www.rhorii.com/#Bioblitz. This is Almaden Quicksilver County Park information and maps: https://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Pages/AlmadenPark.aspx. Here are more pictures of Almaden Quicksilver County Park: http://www.newalmaden.org/#Pictures. Last year I went to Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve to take pictures on Nature Photography Day: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.5397982933558518&type=3
