Native Flowers in MCP's Master Gardeners' Parcel, 5/17/23 by Ronald Horii
On Wednesday, 5/17/23, I went to the Master Gardeners' parcel in Martial Cottle Park when it was open. Their 4-acre parcel is open to the public during their regular work hours: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9–noon. I went by the garden the previous Monday, but it was closed. I saw through the fence that many flowers were blooming, so I came back when the garden was open. I previously visited it on 4/15/23, during the Spring Garden Fair: https://tinyurl.com/brydh2fr. The flowers were blooming, but many were not at their peak yet. This year, because of the cold, wet weather, the blooms have been delayed about a month. Now they seem to be in full bloom, though some early bloomers have gone to seed. These pictures show the native California plants in the gardens. I made another album, which shows the non-native flowers: https://tinyurl.com/76fnh7wm.
