Viva Calle SJ, Willow to Roses, 4/23/23 by Ronald Horii
On 4/23/23, Viva Calle SJ was held in San Jose. It is a recreational program that closes several miles of San Jose streets for 1 day from 10 am to 3 pm, opening them up to bicyclists, walkers, runners, skaters, scooter riders, etc. Today's event was called "Willow to Roses." It ran between the Rose Garden, downtown Willow Glen, and SJSU. It's not a race. People can start anywhere along the route and explore all of it or part of it. At the ends of each leg of the route are activity hubs, with live entertainment, food trucks, information booths, merchandise vendors, giveaways, activities for kids, and games. I rode my bike, starting at the Rose Garden. I rode to SJSU, then Willow Glen, and back to the Rose Garden. Here are pictures I took along the way. Most of these were taken with my phone. I posted them almost in real time on Facebook, a little at a time. Here they are collected together, with a few pictures added that I took with my travelzoom camera.
