Firefighter Training, Santa Teresa Park Pueblo Area, 3/4/22 by Ronald Horii
On 3/4/23, I was in the Pueblo Day Use Area of Santa Teresa County Park, and I saw groups of future firefighters in training. They were with the South Bay Fire Academy. I've seen them here before. This was last year about this time: "Firefighter Training, Santa Teresa Park Pueblo Area, 3/20/22": https://tinyurl.com/mvatpzef. The students were practicing laying hoses and using tools to practice fighting wildland fires. No fires were actually set, but they did use hoses and water. Here are pictures of the fire academy training. Firefighter training is offered at nearby Gavilan College's Coyote Valley Campus on Bailey Avenue: https://theacademy.ca.gov/firefighter_1_academy/. In the summer, the San Jose Fire Department uses the Pueblo Area for controlled burns and training firefighter recruits, like this on 7/1/21: https://tinyurl.com/n78tchw6.
