Blossom Hill Road Crossing to the Coyote Creek Trail, 10/18/22 by Ronald Horii
The $35 million "101/Blossom Hill Interchange Improvement" Project has been under construction since 2020. An important part of the project is to improve pedestrian connectivity along Blossom Hill Road. For many years, it was very risky and scary to take Blossom Hill Road from the west side of 101 and Monterey Road to the east side, which includes the Coyote Creek Trail. I frequently bike the trail and one of my favorite access points is from Silver Creek Valley Road. However, I drive to it. since I live west of 101 and would never attempt to get there by taking Blossom Hill Road. This new project creates a class 1 trail from the already-existing Xander's Crossing to Coyote Road, from which there are several ways to reach the Coyote Creek Trail. The past few weeks, I noticed people using the new trail, so I thought I'd check it out. Here are pictures. There will be a dedication ceremony for the new trail on November 18, 2022 at 10:00 am on the Odette Morrow Trail located off Coyote Rd and Blossom Hill Rd. It's kind of a secret now. After it's been dedicated, hopefully more people will use it. I asked Councilmember Sergio Jimenez about it. He said there will be an opening ceremony on November 18 at 10 am. It will be at the entrance to the Odette Morrow Trail in Shady Oaks Park near the corner of Coyote Road and Silver Creek Valley Road. You can park in the Silver Creek Staging area for the Coyote Creek Trail and walk along the road to get there. The event will include a walk along the trail.
